Wetland (Vådområde)

A wetland is an area where the water level has been raised so the soil is wet for most of the year.

Under the Green Tripartite (Grøn Trepart), wetlands are used primarily to remove nitrogen before it reaches fjords and coastal waters, and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from low-lying soils. Rewetting can also increase the area's capacity to buffer large volumes of water.
