Plans and projects

  • All 23 land-use conversion plans were approved in principle by the end of 2025.
  • The plans contain over 5,600 potential projects.
  • In early May 2026, approximately 1,200 projects were under way or completed.

Lowland

According to the report, projects covering 87,551 ha of lowland had been initiated against the target of 140,000 ha. Of these, 604 ha were completed, 22,027 ha had funding approval for implementation and 64,919 ha had funding approval for preliminary studies.

Nitrogen

Nitrogen reduction measures amounting to 4,172 tonnes had been initiated against a target of 12,776 tonnes in the report's figures. Of these, 26 tonnes related to completed projects, 633 tonnes to projects with funding approval for implementation and 3,512 tonnes to projects with funding approval for preliminary studies.

Oversubscription

KL states that, in 2025, applications under the EU-funded scheme alone amounted to almost DKK 2 billion for projects covering over 44,000 ha, twice the allocated funding.

What the figures show

The vast majority of hectares are still at the preliminary study stage. This means that the coming years will be about taking projects from studies to implementation. This is precisely where a dated baseline and traceable documentation make a difference.
